Zen.Rest Japanese Futon Mattress

Tried this on the floor and it's not too thin, it's not quite thick enough to be comfy, depending on how thick the carpet is, although a child may be comfy, however I use this as a mattress topper for a blow up guest bed and it makes all the difference to a good night's sleep. This futon mattress keeps clean with the mattress cover that is included, folded over it makes a comfy seat, it's well made and because it's easy to fold it's easier to store. This is fairly portable, so could possibly be used when camping or a mattress topper to make a firm mattress more comfy.

I've had this for when I have all the family stay as it's ideal for one of my grandchildren to use. It comes packed in plastic with the air removed so once opened it springs into shape. I left it for 3 days and then checked it and found it has opened up perfectly. It's nicely padded and although not very deep it is very comfortable. The materials used appear to be of good quality and carefully stitched. What makes it great is the bag to store it in, which brings it down to a reasonable size. There is also a mattress cover provided. Very pleased with it.

Another way to describe this is that it is a very thick mattress topper.

I have already had two naps with this. One for 3 hours and the other for about 6. The second one shouldn't have been that long but I was so comfortable that I decided to give myself the day off and continue to sleep.

Whilst my bedroom is being renovated, I am sleeping in the kids room on the floor and although their carpet is soft, it is still not great sleeping on the floor with a few sheets and duvet for padding.

I don't have a single mattress to put down on the floor and airbeds, due to my 160kg weight, pretty much cave in and I end up touching the floor still. This is a great middle ground and it is as comfortable as described. I would be surprised if anyone thought differently. All you need is a good pillow to match.

I'd rather fold this up and put it in a cupboard but it is rather easy to roll it up and get it in to the storage bag using the straps that are provided.

I'd recommend this to anyone I know as an alternative to an airbed.

I think culturally the way we sleep in the west is largely very different to more eastern parts of the world and it's important to be aware of the differences when considering a product like this and temper expectations appropriately.

This is a very high quality futon/tatami mat floor mattress. It's not intended to function like the pocket sprung or 30cm deep memory foam mattresses we're use to and is intended for people who enjoy sleeping on a more stable and firm surface but without their bones and extremities pressing up against the hard surface. It is something that you need to take time to acclimatise to and can offer some surprising benefits if you put the time in to do so.

It's a compact and lightweight sleeping surface, it's easy to store and the supplied bag keeps it nice and clean when not in use.

I actually find it very comfortable and it's a nice way of spending time sitting at floor level for playing with your kids or pets or huddling around a coffee table to play a board game with friends.

It's well made and the material quality is excellent. It's a great example of a soft and comfortable floor mattress in my opinion and well worth the asking price.

I have been floor sleeping for a few months now to relieve the back/shoulder pain I was getting from a regular mattress. I bought a quite thin sleeping pad to try this out and after a couple of months decided I wanted to move to floor sleeping full time. I bought this mattress to add just a touch more luxury to my sleep.

It's well made and the included sheet is a bonus with this as it's not something you often get and they are expensive to buy separately. It also comes with a carry bag. I got the twin size and find this size perfect for one person (and sometimes my medium sized dog!) I left it to 'puff up' for a couple of days as instructed, but being honest it never increased more than it already had in around the first 4 hours or so. It's not the thickest but trying it on its own, it was comfortable enough for me. Others that aren't used to floor sleeping might not feel that way though. Combined with my existing sleep pad, this is perfect. It's lightweight and easy to fold or roll. I have not tried getting it in the bag though. It does need to be aired after each use and then can be folded away. I store it under my sofa.

I give this 5 stars as for the price with the sheet and bag included, it's great value compared to some. However I fully understand this style of sleeping is not for everyone and that some wouldn't find this thick enough.

I picked up this futon mattress as my youngest child has recently been falling out of their bed and spending a lot of the night sleeping on the floor - no matter how many times we put them back into their bed, they just keep rolling out- so we wanted them to have something comfortable to lie on! It provides a soft and comfortable place for them to lie and I will also admit that I have fallen nodded off on it when I have been reading books at bedtime! It has given us an alternative to buying a new bed and that has been a lifesaver!

We will also be using it when we have family coming to stay as it a good firmness and isn't too hard or too soft. Whilst it isn't too deep, it still provides a comfortable sleep.

I do find it quite tricky to roll up and get back into the storage bag but there are straps to keep it together. I just find it a bit fiddly but it is definitely worth it for the space-saving element.

I was very impressed that it came with a protective cover to keep things clean - often you have to buy these things but it was a really nice extra, I can see how that makes it good value for money.

I would recommend it - especially if you have lots of people coming to stay and don't want to keep having to replace inflatable beds!

I was a little unsure about the price but found this mattress was pretty good camping for 3 days. I'm 5'2" and found it comfortable. I like that it feels soft to the touch. I didn't use the cover provided but covered with a sheet. The downside is the size transporting a double mattress in a small car or when stored at home in the bag provided. If you're strong enough then it can be folded in half, then rolled and the straps just about fit around. Then it can be covered in the protective sheet as the black cover won't fit. Otherwise use as a mattress topper to store.

For a tall heavy person like me most thin matresses leave me feeling bruised by morning because they are too soft.

This futon mattress is just the right firmness. Despite being only 7cm thick it have enough support without feeling hard. I slept well.

It is also well made.

I have just ordered another one; you can't get a better reccommendation than that!

This Zen.Rest futon exceeded my expectations. The quilting is high quality, and it provides a nice balance of firmness and support. It arrived in perfect condition and expanded quickly once unrolled. It fits perfectly in my space and looks exactly like the pictures. A solid 5-star purchase.

The futon mattress was just as shown in the description. Packaging was strong and it arrived without any damage. It quickly regained its shape after opening. The balance between firmness and comfort is great, making it suitable for both sitting and sleeping. Overall, very good quality for the price and I would recommend it.

Nice that it comes with a protective cover to keep the mattress clean. Unfortunately the 7cm thickness combined with the construction method does not leave much padding when your a 90kg 185cm male trying to get a comfortable nights sleep!

Very happy with the product. The quality exceeded my expectations, and I find it's comfortable too. I'm happy that the cover is removable for easier cleaning.

I was skeptical at first but quality is good. Good thickness, not too thin and feels soft. Also, easy to store when not in use, comes with a dust bag and a cover.

Excellent product. Not very thick as I like it but very comfortable. I like the washable cover to keep the bed clean. While not use, I use it as a topper for my queen bed so I don't worry about storage. Highly recommended.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I bought this but honestly it's exceeded every expectation. I actually used this as a topper on our queen bed rather than on the floor, and it's made such a difference. My back feels so much more supported now, definitely noticed less stiffness in the mornings since adding it.

Unboxing was easy, it comes vacuum packed so it needs a few days to fully expand once you roll it out, but once it does the 9-layer thickness is genuinely impressive. Doesn't feel flimsy at all. It also comes with a fitted sheet which is a nice touch, keeps it protected and helps it last longer.

I live in a four bedroom, but one is my office and one is set up for my 3d printers. Lounge is a futon so that's one, in the dining room I have another couch that pulls out into a bed too.

This is ideal for the holiday period because I often have guests from out of town visit. It folds down to a nice small size but when laid out on the floor it's a comfortable mattress and works perfect on the floor of the office or printer room so guests can still have a bit of privacy if they don't want a couch.

I was honestly surprised at the comfort. When I first laid it out I thought it would be hard on the back but when I went back in the room an hour or so later it had settled in to shape better and when I laid on it, I nearly had an afternoon nap then and there!

Softer than expected

Quite comfortable but as you'd expect for only 10cm thick (havent measured it but seems thinner), not a full mattress of course but comfortable enough. The cover is great and bag to store it in also very useful.
